For the membrane to move correctly and activate the microswitch, the pressure inside the housing must be equal to the external atmospheric pressure.
The sintered filter therefore acts as a barometric pressure-equalising valve (or breathable vent), allowing air to enter and exit freely, thereby maintaining equilibrium.
It is fitted to a cable entry using the G 1/2 male thread.
