COMPANY HISTORY AND CHARACTERISTICS

MartinoRossi S.p.A. is a leading company in the food sector for the production of flours, clean label functional ingredients, plant-based products free from gluten, allergens and GMOs, obtained from cereals and legumes grown in controlled supply chains. Founded in 1954 in Malagnino (CR), it defines itself as an innovative, inclusive and healthy company, with 3 processing and storage plants between the heart of the Po Valley and Chicago and with over a thousand processed products.

CUSTOMER NEEDS

MartinoRossi needed to find level indicators:

  • Suitable for explosive environments of compact size with ATEX certification;
  • Suitable for contact with food substances;
  • Easy to install;
  • Suitable for automating big bag filling and reducing material detection time during the process;
  • Suitable for increasing safety in screw conveyors and preventing clogging;
  • Resistant to high temperatures up to 200°.

 

PROPOSED SOLUTIONS

In the case of MartinoRossi S.p.A., level indicators for food substances were selected, ideal for meeting the different specific needs of their sector.


The first solution we offer is the PFG57X model, a rotary level indicator with compact dimensions and suitable for contact with food, built with an aluminum housing and ATEX certified. This feature makes it ideal for tanks or load cells with potentially explosive atmospheres due to the presence of dust. Our customer uses a stainless steel INOX vane, which makes it resistant and durable over time even for heavy materials such as flour. In some cases, they adopt our AC19PLA1 vane, made of Lathiom and suitable for contact with food. They customize the length of the indicator according to their needs, using different types of rigid and flexible extensions. Additionally, they choose to combine two options: the M12 connector and the 4RPM.

A rotary level indicator - PFG57X

The M12 connector has a standard industrial format that allows immediate and easy connection. The advantages are:

  • Fast and safe installation;
  • Widely compatible connection;
  • Greater resistance to vibrations, shocks and external agents;
  • Facilitates maintenance and cable replacement;
  • Reduces the risk of wiring errors.

The 4RPM ensures a fast response by increasing the rotation speed to 4 revolutions per minute. The advantages are:

  • Faster response and signaling;
  • Greater efficiency in level control processes.

The second solution we offer is our diaphragm level indicator MN21, to prevent clogging in screw conveyors. MartinoRossi chooses to customize this instrument with the M12 connector, improving practicality and reliability. Thanks to the distinctive features of the connector, the company has extended its use to other plants where CAMLogic level indicators are installed. The MN21 indicator can be installed both to prevent clogging in screw conveyors and to signal the level reached by the material, thanks to the pressure exerted on the instrument membrane.

The third solution suitable for the customer's needs is the PFG05, a rotary level indicator for solid materials. It has a robust construction with an aluminum housing. It is a device suitable for installation in potentially explosive atmospheres due to the presence of dust, with ATEX certification. Furthermore, the high-temperature version up to 200°C is adopted, the PFG05AT. This indicator also allows contact with corrosive materials. The customer chooses to use the AC3INOX4 stainless steel vane, which is particularly resistant and durable even for heavy materials. CAMLogic is committed to helping customers optimize the measurement process through PFG05 and PFG05AT indicators, designed for maximum level detection, and offers several options to improve the operation of its instruments, such as rotation control. CONCLUSIONS

The three types of indicators met the requirements of our client MartinoRossi, complying with ATEX safety standards for explosive areas. They are installed in plants where material handling takes place, such as in silos, big bags, hoppers and screw conveyors.
